When Is NCIS Season 21 Comming? Here is What We Know!

The long-running drama was renewed for season 21 in February 2023

Originally conceived as a spinoff of the series JAG, NCIS quickly surpassed expectations to become one of the most enduring primetime dramas in television history, ranking as the third longest-running. The show centers around a team within the Naval Criminal Investigative Service as they tackle a wide array of special cases, encompassing everything from espionage to terrorism, homicide, and more.

Debuting in 2003, NCIS swiftly rose to prominence, becoming one of the highest-rated shows on television within just a few seasons. Remarkably, in 2022, nearly two decades after its premiere, Variety reported that NCIS still held the distinction of being the second most-watched series of the year. The show’s appeal is anchored in its exceptional ensemble cast of diverse and often quirky characters, injecting humor into the otherwise action-packed storyline.

Due to its lengthy run, NCIS has become an integral part of many viewers’ lives, witnessing the team’s evolution with new members joining, others departing, and beloved characters growing alongside the loyal audience. Consequently, fans consistently anticipate each new season with great enthusiasm.

Here’s a comprehensive overview of what to expect in the upcoming 21st season of NCIS.

When will NCIS season 21 premiere?

Regrettably, shortly after CBS granted a renewal to NCIS, the entertainment industry was hit by a dual strike involving both Hollywood’s writers and actors, leading to a complete halt in production across numerous movies and TV shows. Subsequently, networks and studios were compelled to reconfigure their release schedules to accommodate this unforeseen hiatus.

Presently, NCIS does not possess an official release date, and due to the ongoing actors’ strike, filming for the new season has not even commenced. The positive development is that the writers’ strike concluded in late September.

According to Deadline, the writers’ room for NCIS, along with other popular series like Yellowjackets, The Simpsons, and 9-1-1, reopened in the first week of October. This signifies that, even though the series has yet to begin the physical production of episodes, the creative process has officially resumed, with the writing of new episodes in progress.
